Skoghus is located in Ryder Lake, a quiet little community in the mountains, with tons of hills and thick forest. The fenced property is private and spacious, but if you want to get out for a hike or bike ride, there's lots nearby.
All the roads around the area are scenic and lovely for bike riding. Mt. Thom is 3 minutes away and is a quick/easy hike - you could even walk all the way to the trailhead if you wanted. The popular and more challenging hike up Elk Mountain is also nearby and is perfect for a full-day activity. 10 minutes down the mountain is the Vedder River and the trail along it. 10 minutes past that is Cultus Lake.
Pubs and breweries are 17 minutes away, including Old Yale Brewing which is excellent to visit all year round.
